Located in southern China, Guangxi features a dramatic blend of limestone mountains, winding rivers and humid valleys. Its subtropical monsoon climate provides warm temperatures, abundant rainfall and dense vegetation — perfect conditions for growing both tea and jasmine flowers. These landscapes give Guangxi tea a naturally smooth, refreshing quality, supported by rich biodiversity and clean mountain air.
Tea Heritage and Local Traditions
Guangxi’s tea culture is influenced by centuries of trade, agriculture and ethnic diversity. Various tea-drinking customs from Zhuang, Miao and Yao communities have shaped the region’s habits and preferences. Guangxi became especially famous for two distinct tea traditions: highly fragrant jasmine tea and earthy, aged dark tea known as Liu Bao. Each reflects a different aspect of the region — one floral and elegant, the other grounded and warming.
Hengxian: China’s Jasmine Capital
Hengxian County in Guangxi is widely recognised as the largest jasmine-producing area in China. Its warm climate, fertile soil and long growing season create ideal conditions for developing strong, sweet jasmine blooms. This makes Guangxi the beating heart of China’s jasmine tea industry.
