$241.99

This Flat-Round Patched Burnished Copper Kettle is meticulously handcrafted from pure copper, featuring a 900ML capacity. It undergoes a specialized burnishing process, resulting in a warm, rich patina that enhances its depth and character. The design is inspired by the traditional flat-round kettle, with a full and rounded body, and a hand-hammered surface that creates intricate, layered textures, adding a profound sense of dimension as light interacts with the metal. Additionally, patch-like embellishments are deliberately crafted, reminiscent of old-world repair techniques, infusing the piece with a sense of craftsmanship and time-honored artistry.

Design Highlights

  • Hand-Hammered Texture: The surface is meticulously hammered by hand, creating natural dimples that enhance both visual appeal and heat dissipation efficiency.
  • Patched Aesthetic: Specially designed patch-like details mimic the traditional technique of repairing copperware, symbolizing resilience, renewal, and the passage of time.
  • Refined Patina Finish: High-temperature patina treatment gives the copper a deep, aged bronze tone. Over time, it will develop a unique patina, enhancing its character and beauty.
  • Superior Heat Conductivity: Copper’s excellent thermal conductivity ensures even heat distribution, making the boiling process more stable and enhancing the smoothness and clarity of the water for better tea extraction.
  • Agate Lid Knob: The lid is adorned with a polished agate bead, adding an elegant contrast while offering a comfortable grip for easy handling.

This Flat-Round Patched Burnished Copper Kettle seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, making it not just a high-performance water-boiling vessel, but also a remarkable collectible piece. The intricate hammered textures and patch-inspired embellishments evoke a sense of history and artistry, lending a calm and meditative ambiance to any tea ceremony. Every use becomes an elegant ritual, enriching the experience of boiling water and brewing tea.

Please Note: As this kettle is entirely handcrafted, minor imperfections such as oxidation marks and fine scratches may be present. These are natural characteristics of artisanal copperware and contribute to its unique charm. Your understanding is appreciated.

Description

Method for Seasoning a Copper Kettle:

  1. Waking the Kettle: Fill the kettle with cold water and bring it to a boil. Discard the water and repeat twice. Then, pour in rice-washed water, bring it to a boil, and discard it. Repeat twice. Wipe the kettle with a damp tea cloth. Finally, fill it with cold water, bring it to a boil, discard the water, and repeat twice.
  2. Tempering the Kettle: Through a short dry-burn process (about 10 seconds), the copper kettle is further refined and purified. The body of the kettle will change color. Pour in a small amount of tea water and swirl it around to remove impurities. (Use an open flame, separate the body and lid. Rotate the kettle body evenly while dry-burning for about 10 seconds or until the body turns yellow. Avoid excessive burning, as it may turn black.)
  3. Soaking: Add 5-8g of black tea into the copper kettle, bring the tea water to a boil over low heat, and continue boiling for another 10 minutes before discarding the water.
  4. Drying: Remove the lid and let the residual heat dry the kettle. During daily use, the kettle will develop a natural patina, and the boiled water will become softer and sweeter.

Maintenance:

  1. Store the copper kettle in a dry, well-ventilated place and avoid direct contact with acidic substances. Over time, the inner wall of pure copper kettles will turn black due to oxidation, which is a natural characteristic of copper and does not affect its use.
  2. After use, wipe the kettle dry. If it will not be used for more than four days, store it in a dry place.
  3. Avoid dry burning. Excessive heat or prolonged exposure will cause the surface color to fade and may damage the heat-resistant rope on the handle.
  4. To restore the color of the interior, apply vinegar (or lemon juice) mixed with salt and scrub with a scouring pad. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. However, since the exterior has been pre-oxidized, this method is not recommended for the outer surface.

Characteristics of Copper Kettles:

  • Antibacterial and Sterilizing: Water stored in a copper kettle remains fresh and does not spoil easily over several days.
  • Sweeter Boiled Water: Water boiled in a copper kettle becomes mildly alkaline, resulting in a softer and sweeter taste.
  • Richer Tea Flavor: Copper kettles conduct heat quickly, reaching higher temperatures, which releases copper elements that enhance the richness and aroma of tea.
  • Darkened Inner Wall: The black layer inside the kettle is formed due to oxidation from heating, a natural characteristic of pure copper.
