About ZhengYan Wuyi Shui Xian

This ZhengYan Lao Cong Shui Xian is sourced from an edge mountain area within the ZhengYan system of Wuyi Mountain. Although not from a core named cliff, it remains within the true ZhengYan zone. ZhengYan refers to rock teas grown on Danxia rock formations, valued for structure, mineral character, and stable returning sweetness rather than purely high aroma.

This Shui Xian has a tree age over 60 years, meeting Lao Cong (old bush) standards. Compared to high-age Lao Cong from core cliffs, this positions as a daily-drinking ZhengYan Lao Cong. Rock character, bush flavor, floral notes, and mellowness are all present with complete structure and clean expression—a clearly oriented, cost-effective ZhengYan Lao Cong tea.

Appearance & Taste

ZhengYan Wuyi Shui Xian

Dry leaves are robust and tightly twisted, dark brown and lustrous, thick and substantial—displaying Shui Xian variety’s typical characteristics. Brewed liquor is bright orange-red, clear and transparent, presenting the mature color fully-fired rock tea should have.

Tea liquor is rich and full with noticeable body, neither hollow nor thin, entering steadily and smoothly with substantial weight. Shui Xian’s characteristic orchid fragrance is clearly discernible, with woody notes, composed bush character unique to Lao Cong, and caramelized sweetness from firing. Returning sweetness is distinct, throat sensation deep and clean, lingering impression persistent.

Taste: Floral, Mineral, Mossy, Rocky

Re-steep for 6-8 infusions or more, depending on personal taste. If not using a Gaiwan Gongfu style, steep for around 1-2 minutes. Re-steep for 2–3 infusions.

Origin

Wuyi Mountain

Raw materials come from edge mountain areas of Wuyi Mountain’s ZhengYan region, still within the scenic area’s core ecological system. Rock structure is intact, soil primarily weathered rock with high mineral content, possessing typical Wuyi rock tea growing foundations. Compared to core sites, production is more stable and cost-effective, yet still presents the structure, rock character foundation, and stable quality ZhengYan rock tea should have—a ZhengYan-oriented area balancing quality with everyday drinking value.
