What’s the difference between a tea tasting cup and a regular teacup?

How do I use a Gaiwan?

A Gaiwan is used for brewing tea. Put the tea leaves in the bowl, add hot water and use the lid to control the steeping. The Gaiwan can be used to drink the tea directly or the tea can be poured into a fair cup and then served in smaller tasting cups.

Can I use a Gaiwan for all types of tea?

Yes, a Gaiwan is versatile and can be used for most types of tea, green tea, black tea, oolong tea and more. But some teas like Pu-erh may be better brewed in a Yixing clay Gaiwan as the clay can absorb and enhance the tea’s flavour over time.
